GREENSBORO — Cone Health has received awards for cardiovascular care and for engaging physicians.
Cone Health owns Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington and MedCenter Mebane.
IBM Watson Health named Cone one of 2019’s 50 best cardiovascular hospitals.
Winning hospitals had more heart patients survive, had fewer patients with complications, provided care at less cost per patient, and had a higher 30-day survival rate than non-winning hospitals.
Cone Health was named a Watson Health 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospital also in 2018.
Cone Health has received a Pinnacle of Excellence Award for its work with physicians.
“This award is validation of the strong relationship we have with physicians at Cone Health,” CEO Terry Akin said.
Pinnacle awards require high achievement levels be maintained over three years.
Cone Health worked with the Center for Creative Leadership to create a unique program to train physicians in leadership. The Physician Leadership Academy has graduated scores of physician leaders over the past five years. Nine are among senior executives at Cone Health. Cone Health also offers other programs aimed at shaping physician skills as care providers.
