Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Torrey Smith blasted President Trump for his decision to cancel the team’s planned visit to the White House on Tuesday.Some members of the Super Bowl champions weren’t expected to attend the White House ceremony because of their differences with Trump’s policies, but Smith took issue with Trump calling off the entire event, calling it “a cowardly act.” While Trump said the players disagree with him “because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem,” Smith, now a member of the Carolina Panthers, called the president’s attempt to “make it about the anthem is foolish.”Smith noted in another tweet that no Eagles player took a knee during the national anthem before any game last season, including the Super Bowl.The eight-year NFL veteran also took issue with Trump’s inference that the players who do kneel are being disrespectful.”So many lies smh … The President continues to spread the false narrative that players are anti military”
