‘Game of Thrones’: HBO releases trailer for final season

The official trailer for the final season of “Game of Thrones” was released Tuesday — and it promised a dragon-packed climax to the popular HBO fantasy series.

The 2-minute clip for the eighth season of the Emmy-winning show — which starts April 14 — shows dragons blowing fire, dragon flying over the castle at Winterfell, dragons soaring through icy canyons. Basically dragons, dragons, dragons 24/7.

It also shows armies marching, riding and sailing toward what is sure to be a final major battle with the evil White Walkers. As dramatic fantasy music reaches a crescendo, Kit Harington’s Jon Snow character describes them as an enemy that “doesn’t tire, doesn’t stop, doesn’t feel.”

All the other major characters are seen — Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion Lannister, Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen, Sophie Turner’s Sansa Stark, Lena Headey’s Cersei Lannister — presumably plotting, fighting and scheming to be the one to win the final game of thrones. Cersei is seen sipping wine from a goblet and smirking, as is her trademark.

The clip even promises some more dramatic violence from Maisie Williams’ character Arya Stark, who says: “I know death, he’s got many faces, I look forward to seeing this one.”
