John Turturro’s long-rumored ‘Lebowski’ spinoff features Pete Davidson

John Turturro’s “Big Lebowski” spinoff is finally, actually rolling into production.

“Jesus Rolls” revolves around “that creep” bowler Jesus Quintana, played by Turturro, whose iconic performance has equally delighted and repelled “Lebowski” fans for decades. Now, we finally have a (rough) release date for early 2020 — and a cast featuring just the sort of droll, witty character actors you’d expect to follow up the Coen brothers’ fabled 1998 comedy.

The story, originally titled “Going Places,” follows three oddballs whose misguided antics lead them into trouble with the law after a run-in with a “gun-toting” hairdresser. Turturro stars alongside Pete Davidson, Susan Sarandon, Bobby Cannavale, Jon Hamm and French actress Audrey Tatou (“Amelie”), whose roles have not yet been announced.

No word on whether legendary “Lebowski” co-stars Jeff Bridges and John Goodman will be involved. (Here’s hopin’!)

In a statement reported by Variety, Turturro, who also wrote the script, says, “It feels like a good time to release a transgressive film about the stupidity of men who try and fail and try better to understand and penetrate the mystery of women.”

“Lebowski’s” Jesus Quintana was an avid bowler and “pederass.” According to the cult film’s lore, he once served six months in “Chino” for exposing himself to a child. If he succeeds in winning audiences over in “Jesus Rolls,” Quintana will be the quintessential antihero of our time. After all, pervs do seem to get away with a lot these days.
