Netflix is calling its leading man back into action. The new trailer for “The Perfect Date” starring Noah Centineo dropped Tuesday — and social media is freaking all the way out.
The “internet’s favorite hunk,” 22, earned his devoted rom-com fanbase in the back-to-back Netflix hits “To All the Boys I Loved Before” and “Sienna Burgess is a Loser.”
The promo clip for the Calvin Klein underwear model‘s latest teen fever dream, complete with the seemingly obligatory The Chainsmokers theme song, has racked up more than 350,000 views and 35,000 thumbs-up in the first hour it was posted — and shows no signs of slowing down.
One swooning YouTube commenter was quick to point out that “Noah’s becoming to Netflix what Zac Efron was to Disney.”
The streaming giant’s official plot synopsis on YouTube is pretty bare bones — but it does feature a tech generation twist: “To save up for college, Brooks Rattigan (Centineo) creates an app where anyone can pay him to play the perfect stand-in boyfriend for any occasion.”
The perpetually bushy-haired brunette went a little deeper with his own explanation.
“It’s about a young man who’s very enterprising and comes from a low-income household, and decides to create an app that allows anyone to hire him for a stand-in date,” Centineo told IndieWire after filming wrapped last year. “He does this in the hopes of making enough money to get into his dream college, and then hopefully learn who he is in the process.”
But, as these things go, Brooks runs into a moral dilemma when he meets the girl of his dreams: Camila Mendes of “Riverdale,” who spurs him to question his decision to become a rated-PG prostitute.
